The sweet smell of maple syrup and the warmth of a treasured Maryland tradition return this spring as Cunningham Falls State Park hosts the 55th Annual Maple Syrup Festival, taking place March 14-15 and March 21-22, 2026, from 10:00am to 2:00pm each day. Hosted by the Friends of Cunningham Falls & Gambrill State Parks, Inc., this beloved family-friendly event celebrates centuries-old Appalachian and Maryland traditions of collecting sap and cooking it down into pure maple syrup--just as it has been done for generations.
Festival visitors will enjoy:
An ASL Interpreter will be available during outdoor sap boiling and educational demonstrations each festival day to ensure inclusive access for all visitors.
The festival entrance has a suggested donation of $5/pp with children in car seats free.
Items in The Maple Market are available at an additional cost. All proceeds directly support Cunningham Falls and Gambrill State Parks through conservation, education and visitor enhancement projects. With no regional radio advertising campaign this year, organizers are encouraging community members, schools, churches, and local organizations to help spread the word about this milestone celebration.
"This festival is about more than maple syrup -- it's about heritage, community, and keeping a living tradition alive," said Friends President Carol Burger. "For 55 years, families have been coming back year after year to experience the magic of maple season in the mountains."
